Just the other day, I was musing about my love for swimming, and just why I enjoy it so much:
Other than the fact that being near or in water just generally has a calming effect on me (not that I'm a nervous wreck most of the time), the deep, paced breathing, combined with the consistent repetitive strokes (I nearly always only swim frog style) just does wonders for clearing some headspace to declutter the thoughts.
One added benefit that I just had an epiphany about - when you are swimming, alone or with company, there is no need for conversation. In fact, it is physically impossible to speak while you are swimming.
How cool is that??
Ah, wow. Mind blown. I had no idea why and how I arrived at this observation, or why it took me so long to think of it. Suddenly feeling very ingenious and enlightened, heh.
That might just be the subconscious number one reason I love it so. ;p
